Bangalore, Nov 21: The National Senior Badminton circuit, under a new format, gets underway in the city from December eight.

The event, sponsored by public sector Canara Bank, would see almost all top shuttlers in the country in action and carries a prize money of Rs five lakh. The singles winner would get a purse of Rs one lakh.

Qualifying rounds would be played on December eight and tournament proper would be held during the next four days, a Canara Bank release said here.

The tournament would be a selection trial for selecting Indian Team that takes part in Thomas and Uber Cup and European circuit to be held during February and March next year.

The event would be held under the aegis of Karnataka Badminton Association and coordinated by Padukone Sports Management. HDFC Mutual fund and Yonex would be the co-sponsors.
