Insult to national flag alleged in the final India-Pak ODI

Jaipur, Nov 21 (UNI) A foreigner drinking a soft drink using the tricolour as a table cover in the VIP gallery of the SMS stadium in Jaipur, during the final India- Pak ODI, has kicked off a controversy.

Nagrika Morcha state co ordinator Suresh Mishra has alleged that the incident was an insult to the tricolour and the organsiers of the event should be held responsible for the insult to the national Flag. Mr Mishra said he will take the matter to the court to punish the person and the organisers.

Noted flag expert Shyam Prakash Kamra supporting the Morcha said the incident calls for action as it was clearly an insult. He said ''action be initiated against the person under section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971 and rules of Indian Flag code 2002''.

Mr Kamra said ''it was clearly an insult to national flag whether the person had done it even inadvertently''.

''The incident took place at the VIP gallery of the stadium which further hightens the seriousness of the incident,'' he added.
