Chandigarh, Nov 21 (UNI) The Haryana Election Department has decided to conduct summary revision of photo electoral rolls of all the 90 assembly constituencies of the state with January 1, 2008 as qualifying date prescribed by the Election Commission.
Stating this here today, a spokesman of the department said the Draft publication had been revised polling station-wise by November 19 and claims and objections could be filed between November 19 and December 4.
He said the Draft Publication would remain available in the offices of concerned Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers, Sub-Divisional Officers(Civil), Deputy Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Revenue Tehsildars, District Public Relations Officers, Post Offices, Patwar Khana, Panchayat Ghars and offices of municipalities.
He said the prime objective of the revision was to produce clean and accurate rolls complete in all respects with the active cooperation and involvement of electors as well as political parties.
The spokesman said another objective of the special revision was to carry out corrections in the existing particulars of the electors after due verification. Corrections with regard to entries relating to name, age and sex in the identity cards already issued would also be carried out.
The Election Commission had ordered special revision of electoral rolls of an intensive nature with reference to January 1, 2008 as the qualifying date he added. The revision would be undertaken for all the Assembly constituencies in the state under the direction and supervision of the Commission.
