Govt to set up 3 leather industry parks
New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) The Central government has decided to set up three leather industry parks in the country to provide employment to the people.
In reply to a written question in Rajya Sabha today, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Ashwani Kumar said one such park will be set up at Irungattukotai and Chennai in Tamil Nadu and the third will come up in Kolkata.
He said about 7,000 people are likely to get employment in these parks. Infrastructure like design studios, common facility centre, display-cum-warehousing facilities for housing manufacturing units would be set up in these parks, he added.
Replying to another question, his colleague Jairam Ramesh said the government has also decided, in principle, to set up a spice park at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, primarily for chillies and turmeric.
