Kancheepuram, Nov 21 (UNI) Police today arrested eight people, including a notorious history-sheeter Ravi Prakash, 28 in connection with the murder of AIADMK functionaries Kumar and Arumugam at Dhimmavaram village near here on November 17.
District police arrested the gang members at gun - point when they were moving in suspicious manner in a car at Palur near here this morning.
The arrested were remanded to judicial custody, the police said adding that they were on look out for three more people involved in the crime.
The police recovered a pistol, eight swords and wooden logs from them. They had confiscated the car and a two-wheeler, used for committing the crime.
Following the murder, District Superintendent of Police Periaiah formed seven special teams to nab the culprits.
The teams were on patrolling, when they intercepted the car and arrested the criminals.
Kumar, AIADMK Chengalpattu Town Secretary and Municipality Vice-Chairman and his assistant Arumugam were on their way to Kancheepuram, when the gang, tailing them in a van, waylaid and attacked the duo with lethal weapons, killing them in the car.
