Chennai, Nov 21 (UNI) The airport police today arrested two Sri Lankan national, when they attempted to board a Colombo-bound flight, using fake passports.
The airport police, after arresting the duo, identified as Nilan Thamal Fernando (29) and Patrick Kameni Harindon (42), hailing from Irrattaikulam near Colombo, handed them over to the Crime Branch CID Police.
They were about to board the Jet Lite flight at 2300 hrs last night, when immigration officials found Fernando was possessing a fake passport.
Though the papers of Harindon were found to be in order, police arrested him as he had sponsored Fernando's trip to India.
The Immigration officials detained them in their office last night and handed them over to the airport police last night.
Preliminary interrogation by Immigration officials and ''Q'' branch police revealed that the duo had reached Bangalore from Colombo on November 17 and met some people there before coming to Chennai by train.
