Faizabad, Nov 20 (UNI) Even as the sensational Shashi abduction case continues to baffle the police, a hunt is on to nab her classmate Seema Azad, police said here today.

''Now, the police is searching Seema, who had introduced Shashi to Vijay Sen Yadav and former Uttar Pradesh Food and Processing Minister Anand Sen Yadav,'' SSP V P Tripathi said.

Shashi, a Third Year Law student of Saket Degree College, went missing under mysterious circumstances on October 22 from Inayatnagar area of Faizabad.

Vijay, former chauffeur of Anand Sen Yadav and the main accused in the Shashi abduction case, changed his statements, further puzzling the case.

The accused, who had surrendered on October 31, is also said to be a relative of the ex-minister.

During interrogation, Vijay said Shashi committed suicide by jumping off the river Gomti in Sultanpur district. While at another time, he confessed to the crime, saying he pushed her into the river.

Yesterday, police had nabbed Babbu Pasi, who had reportedly stolen a watch from the wrist of an unidentified body at Aam Ghat near Gomti river, the same place where Shashi's body was allegedly seen recently.

However, since Shashi's parents were presently in Delhi, the watch could not be identified as belonging to her.

Anand Sen Yadav had resigned from the Mayawati cabinet after the victim's father had put allegations upon him.

When the Mayawati cabinet took oath of office in May 2007, Yadav could not be sworn in as a minister, as he was behind bars in a murder case. He took the oath at a later date.

His father Mitra Sen Yadav, an MP, was allegedly involved in a case of human trafficking.
