Patna, Nov 20 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, the Bihar police today arrested a local promoter and one of his accomplices in connection with the much hyped Reshma-Kajal murder case.
DIG Patna Range Sunil Kumar said Anil Sharma and his accomplice Mohsin were detained for interrogation to trace their connection in the infamous murder case.
He said the arrested have revealed that following some land disputes with the ruling JD(U) MLA Anant Singh, the promoter had hatched a conspiracy to implicate the legislator in a case of murder.
The DIG apprehended that duo had murdered a girl called Reshma, who was later identified as Kajal, and dumped her body in a gunny bag in a lonely place at Shastrinagar area here along with a letter, that raised doubts over the MLA's involvement.
However, after the body was recovered, a few mediapersons went to the MLA's residence for his comment to which the leader's bodyguards assaulted them.
Though Mr Singh and four of his supporters were arrested in connection with the case and sent to the Beur central jail, the CJM court soon granted him bail.
Meanwhile, a massive search was on to nab the other accomplices of Anil Sharma, the DIG stated.
Incidentally, the Reshma-Kajal murder case had surcharged the poltical atmosphere of the state as the RJD and other opposition parties had called for a 24-hour statewide bandh on November two protesting against the alleged murder.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had recomended a CBI probe into the incident.
