Over 36 lakh tone paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 20 (UNI) Government agencies have procured 17.63 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of paddy so far out of total arrival of 36.68 lakh MTs in various mandis of the state.

A spokesman for the Food and Supplies Department today said that out of total arrival, 25.59 lakh MTs was leviable paddy while 11.08 lakh was paddy non-leviable.

He said HAFED had procured 7.13 lakh MTs of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 5.60 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 2.21 lakh MTs, Confed 1.99 lakh MTs, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 59,110 MTs and Food Corporation of India 9,477 MTs.

The spokesman said that Kurukshetra district ahead of all the districts of the state with the arrival of 6.96 lakh MTs of paddy followed by Karnal 6.04 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 4.70 lakh MTs, Kaithal 4.36 lakh MTs, Ambala 3.01 lakh MTs, Jind 2.44 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 2.14 lakh MTs, Panipat 1.69 lakh MTs, Sirsa 1.68 MTs and Faridabad 1.38 lakh MTs.

He said a sum of Rs 985 crore had been arranged for the payment of paddy to the farmers, he added.
