Orientation Workshop for AIR Part Time Correspondents

Chandigarh, Nov 20 (UNI) Haryana Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh today inaugurated a three-day Orientation Workshop of Part Time Correspondents (PTCs) of All India Radio (AIR) from Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.

In his address, Mr Dharambir Singh said all the Part Time Correspondents of AIR who worked at district level would be benefited with this workshop.

''The main aim of media is to make aware the general public by providing information. Media today has an important position and responsibility in today's world not only in the country but also in the whole world,'' he said.

The general public. he said, was informed through the medium of AIR, Prasar Bharti and Doordarshan regarding the important events.

He said each broadcasting unit had played an important role in the society and AIR news was very popular.

Mr Dharambir Singh appealed to the mediapersons not to report such news which could hit the unity and integrity of the country.

Earlier, Director General, AIR (News) P K Bandhopadhaya welcomed the Chief Guest. In his address, Mr Bandhopadhaya said new techniques had been developed in today's world in the field of journalism.

He urged the Part Time Correspondents to ensure the credibility of AIR and Doordarshan news.

Additional Director General, AIR (News) Sadhna Raut, Director (News) Vasudha Gupta and Chandigarh Station Director of AIR Gulam Hussain Zia were also present.
