North-East Monsoon brings cheer to farmers

Thanjavur, Nov 20 (UNI) The heavy rains due to North-East Monsoon in the Cauvery Delta Region brought relief to farmers in Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagappattinam districts.

The crops cultivated in ten lakh acres of dry lands in these districts had recieved good rains.

However, PWD sources said following the heavy rains in the Delta areas, the release of water from Mettur reservoir was reduced to 10,000 cusecs from today.
