New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day today following pandemonium in the upper house over Nandigram killings.
This was the second consecutive day that the Chair was forced to adjourn the proceedings in the House for the day, following an unrelenting Opposition demanding suspension of Question Hour to take up discussion over Nandigram violence.
As soon as the House reassembled at 1200 hrs the Opposition BJP and Trinamool Congress members troooped into the well of the House, demanding a discussion over the Nandigram issue. They were shouting slogans against the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government in West Bengal demanding its dismissal.
Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan tried to pacify the members but his requests were shouted down by the Opposition members. Amid the din, the Chair allowed the papers to be laid on the table of the House.
When the Opposition members did not relent, the Chair adjourned the House for the day.
