Gujarat phase II election nomination process begins from tomorrow

Gandhinagar, Nov 20 (UNI) The process of filing nominations for the second phase of Gujarat assembly elections on December 16 will begin tomorrow with Governor Naval Kishore Sharma scheduled to issue a notification.

''We have already obtained the Governor's approval for issuing the notification tomorrow,'' a senior official of State Election office said. The notification will be published under the provisions of the Constitution.

The 95 constituencies, which will go to the polls in the first phase are spread across North and Central Gujarat. The last day for filing nominations is November 28, while the scrutiny of the nomination forms will be held on November 29. The last day for withdrawal of the nominations is December 1.

The Election Commission has made arrangements to conduct the second phase polling and issued a series of directions to officers involved in the exercise.

The Commission is regularly monitoring the arrangements and even video recording of the important election related events arranged.

Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in all the Assembly constituencies.

The polling for the first phase of election will be held on December 11. The counting of both phases will be held on December 23 and a new government is likely to be in place before December 31.

Following are the assembly constituencies where polling will be held on December 16 under the phase two: Dhandhuka, Dholka, Bavla, Mandal, Viramgam, Sarkhej, Daskroi, Dehgam, Sabarmati, Ellis Bridge, Dariapur-Kazipur, Shahpur, Kalupur, Asarwa, Rakhial, Shaher Kotda, Khadia, Jamalpur, Maninagar, Naroda, Gandhinagar, Kalol, Kadi, Jotana, Mehsana, Mansa, Vijapur, Visnagar, Kheralu, Unjha, Sidhpur, Vagdod, Patan, Chanasma, Sami, Radhanpur, Vav, Deodar, Kankrej, Deesa, Dhanera, Palanpur, Vadgam, Danta, Khedbrahma, Idar, Bhiloda, Himatnagar, Prantij, Modasa, Bayad, Meghraj, Santrampur, Jhalod, Limdi, Dohad, Limkheda, Devgadh Baria, Rajgadh, Halol, Kalol, Godhra, Shehra, Lunavada, Randhikpur, Balasinor, Kapadvanj, Thasra, Umreth, Kathlal, Mehmedabad, Mahudha, Nadiad, Chakalasi, Anand, Sarsa, Petlad, Sojhitra, Matar, Borsad, Bhadran, Cambay, Chhota Udaipur, Jetpur, Jasvadi, Sankheda, Dabhoi, Savli, Baroda City, Sayajiganj, Raopura, Vaghodia, Baroda Rural, Padra and Karjan.
