Shimla, Nov 20 (UNI) A consumer in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh says he has been sent a telephone bill by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) without a connection.
Tek Chand of Ulansha village of the district says he has been handed a bill of Rs 1,514 for the month of September and Rs 122 for November on telephone number 01895 200324, which was not his.
He says he had applied to the BSNL for a telephone connection in June, earlier this year, but following no response from it for several months, he approached a private telecom company, which happily obliged him.
However, on approaching the local BSNL office again, this time for getting his name stuck off, it issued him a bill totaling Rs 1,636 for two months, he says.
Mr Chand now says he has made up his mind to approach the consumer forum to highlight the "highhandedness" of the public sector's telecom company.
