New
Delhi,
Nov

The
Opposition
BJP
stalled
the
Question
Hour
in
the
Lok
Sabha
for
the
second
day
today
over
Nandigram
mayhem
Shouting
slogans,
''aaj
na
hoga
koi
kaam,
pehle
hoga
Nandigram'',
and
''Nandigram
par
charcha
karo'',
the
BJP
members
trooped
into
the
well,
saying
they
would
not
allow
the
House
to
function
till
Nandigram
was
discussed.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said he would allow a debate on the issue after receiving a proper motion.
''Your leaders are aware of it as I had told them at a meeting yesterday,'' he said.
When the BJP members did not relent, Mr Chatterjee said he would not adjourn the House today.
''Let the whole see country see. Let the people see. What have they sent us here for, to raise slogans. This is shameful,'' he said and deplored the attitude of the BJP members.
He pointed out that half of the monsoon session was lost due to disruptions.
Even Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi pleaded to the BJP members to let the Question Hour begin, and said the Government was willing to discuss the issue later.
But this failed to pacify the BJP members who continued shouting slogans against the UPA Government.
Some Congress members flared up when a BJP member mentioned the name of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
All this while the Left members sat quitely on their seats.
As the slogan-chanting continued, the Speaker adjourned the House till noon after 15 minutes of its meeting.
