Addressing a press conference here today Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind General Secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani, MP said ''Muslims have lost faith in the Special Investigation Team(SIT) of the state police carrying out the investigation as it can not come out with any lead to nail the perpetrators of the crime even after a month''.
He demanded that the enquiry be handed over to the CBI.
Mr Madani was here to participate in the protest meeting organised by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Rajasthan against the harassment of the innocent Muslims and Ulemas by the state police. He said ''the state police was unable to shed any light in to the perpetrators of the crime and innocent Muslims are being harrased.
He said the investigators are concentrating on the differences of the various sects and traditions of Muslims and the Ulemas and they were being put to mental and physical torture. He said '' it seems the investigating agency is prejudiced and demanded that the investigation be directed to nab the real culprits behind the drastedly act''.
He threatened that if their demands were not heeded they would launch a 'jail bharo' agitation. Jamiat Ulema-e-rajasthan presented a memorandum in this regard to the Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today.
