Sultanpur, Nov 19 (UNI) Even as the sensational Shashi kidnapping case has failed to make any headway, the police today arrested a man possessing a stolen wrist watch.

Arrested Babbu Pasi had reportedly stolen the watch from the wrist of an unidentified body at Aam Ghat near Gomti river, the same place where Shashi's body was alleged to have been seen recently.

According to the police, since Shashi's parents were presently in Delhi, the watch could not be identified, if it belongs to her.

Meanwhile, Babbu was being interrogated.

Changing statements by the Shashi abduction case main accused and former chauffeur of Uttar Pradesh food processing minister Anand Sen Yadav and Vijay Sen Yadav, has further puzzled the case.

Vijay is said to be relative of the former minister.

A IIIrd yearr law student of Saket Degree College, Shashi went missing on October 22 from Inayatnagar area of Faizabad.

During interrogation, Vijay said Shashi committed suicide by jumping off the Gomti river in Sultanpur district, while at other time, he confessed to the crime, saying he pushed her into the river.

On October 31, Vijay had surrendered before the police.

Anand Sen Yadav had resigned from the Mayawati cabinet after the victim's father put allegations upon him.

When the Mayawati cabinet took oath of office in May 2007, Yadav could not be sworn in as a minister, as he was behind the bars in a murder case. He took oath at a later date.

His father Mitra Sen Yadav, an MP, was allegedly involved in a case of human trafficking.
