New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to submit its report within two weeks after examining the medical record of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP from Bihar, Rajiv Ranjan Yadav alias Pappu Yadav, who is seeking release on bail for undergoing treatment.

Yadav is the main accused in Ajit Sarkar murder case and is presently lodged in Tihar jail.

A bench comprising Justices S B Sinha and H S Bedi issued the directions after hearing counsel for the petitioner, who contended that Tihar Jail does not have the facility to provide proper treatment to his client. Hence, he should be released on parole for undergoing treatment at some hospital which has proper medical facilities.

The petitioner, who is facing the problem of overweight due to obesity, was shifted to Tihar jail under the apex court order when he was caught on camera campaigning in elections in Bihar despite being in jail.

Yadav, who is facing several criminal cases in Bihar, is among the tainted politicians of the state and had also thrown a lavish party for criminals during his stay in the state's jail.
