'Quami Ekta Week' begins in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Nov 19 (UNI) At the commencement of the "Quami Ekta Week" (National Integration Week), all the officials and employees of UT Secretariat today took a pledge to preserve and strengthen the freedom and integrity of the nation and also affirmed that they would never resort to violence.

Adviser to the UT Administrator Pradip Mehra administered the pledge. The UT Administration will observe the National Integration Week till November 25.

On the occassion, the secretariat officials also vowed to continue endeavor towards settlement of all differences and disputes relating to religion, language, region or other political or economic grievances by peaceful and constitutional means.

The National Integration Day would be followed by Welfare of Minorities Day, Linguistic Harmony Day, Weaker Sections Day, Cultural Unity Day, Women's Day and Conservation Day on November 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 respectively.
