Kochi, Nov 19 (UNI) Even as the Kerala High Court is considering the legality of a Central notification banning the import of palm oil into the country through Cochin port, one more consignment of palm oil arrived here today.

Trade sources said a vessel 'Oil Ambassador' arrived at Cochin port early this morning with 7,000 tonnes of palm oil from Indonesia.

While 5,000 tonnes were meant for Kozhikode-based Parrisons Foods, the remaining 2,000 tonnes were meant for Mumbai-based Liberty Oil Mills.

A 2,000 tonne consignment of palm oil was offloaded at Cochin port on November nine also.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade had on October 26 banned the import of palm oil through Cochin Port following a recommendation from the Kerala Government and the Coconut Development Board.

However, the Kerala High Court had on October 26 imposed a stay on the notification while hearing petitions from Parrisons Foods and Liberty Oil Mills challenging the Centre's order.
