MP tops in implementing NREGS: CM
Bhopal, Nov 19: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has claimed that the state was on top in implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
''Officials should strive with the same dedication and active role so that the state achieves similar glory in implementation of other schemes as well,'' he said yesterday while addressing a regional conference of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department Committee of Madhya Pradesh Gazetted Officers at the local Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya's Vithi Sankul conference hall, official release stated.
Mr Chouhan pointed out that the responsibility of implementing rural development schemes rests on the shoulders of janpad panchayats' chief executive officers.
''The fiscal powers of executive officers, engaged in Jalabhishek Abhiyan-like national-level programmes, have been strengthened.
Efforts are being made to establish a Panchayat Directorate,'' said Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Rustam Singh, as per the release.
