Bangalore, Nov 19 (UNI) Wipro Chairman Azim Premji today said in the context of the country making big strides in semiconductor and electronic eco system, 'innovation' has assumed a key factor role.
Delivering the keynote address at the 'Freescale Technology Forum' here, he said innovation was not restricted to product or technology alone anymore, but was used in many other areas like processes, delivery, business model and new services.
Mr Premji said the present day technologies were driven by innovations, as the performance bar was raised higher and faster than never before. ''No one can predict the customers' expectations.
Semiconductor industry is no different and it is being driven by adversities and this has led to innovations,'' he said.
He said in Wipro, innovation had proved to be the engine that drove the company to newer heights.
''We have 55 centres of excellence and over 500 people are working on new business technologies. Innovation is not a board room policy.
It has to be embraced across the board for a company's success.
Eleven per cent of Wipro's revenue is attributed to innovations and we want to take this upto 20 per cent in the next two to three years,'' he added.
Freescale, a global leader in manufacture of embedded semiconductors for automotive, consumer, industrial, networking and wireless markets, was hosting the Freescale Technology Forum for the third year in succession.
Company's Senior VP Jan Monney said the forum was organised to promote the latest cutting edge technologies among engineers, customers, partners, industry analysts and media.
