DU student crushed to death by Blueline

New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) A 19-year-old undergraduate of the Delhi University(DU) was crushed to death by a Blueline bus in Bawana area of outer Delhi this morning, even as two of her classmates were also injured after being hit by a two-wheeler.

The head of Pearl Gupta, a first year student at Aditi College in Bawana, was crushed by a speeding Blueline bus, plying on route no 106 (Bawana to Old Delhi Railway Station), at about 1100 hrs near her college, according to a police official.

Eyewitnesses said Pearl, along with two of her classmates, had just got down from a DTC bus when they were hit by a speeding motorcycle. While both her mates fell on the pavement, Pearl was thrown on the road and soon run over by the Blueline.

She was rushed to the hospital but declared 'brought dead'. Her classmates were released after first aid.

Police said the bus has been impounded but the driver was absconding.

Soon after the incident college girls blocked the road in protest and damaged the bus.

Meanwhile, 12 persons were injured in Mukundpur area of north Delhi early this morning when a truck rammed into a Haryana Roadways bus.

Police said the accident at about 0600 hrs happened due to fog.

While eight of the injured were taken to Babu Jagjiwan Ram Hospital, four were taken to the Trauma Centre.
