Chandigarh, Nov 19 (UNI) As part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Director General Quality Assurance (DGDQA), a cycle rally, starting from here to Pune was flagged off by Additional Director V Uma Maheswara Rao, here today.
To commemorate its golden jubilee, the DGQA Adventure Sports Cell (ASC) has planned two adventure activities, which, besides the cycle rally includes a snow skiing expedition at the Rohtang range.
Wishing luck to the participants, Mr Rao said he hoped that the expedition members would meet the expectations of the entire family of DGQA and make the rally a success.
Passing through seven states, the 25-member team would be covering an approximate distance of 1800 KM within 22 days.
The cyclists should reach Pune by December 10. On way, the rally would pass through New Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer, Nasirabad, Udaipur , Ahmedabad, Vadodra and Mumbai.
The DGQA is a premier quality assurance organisation under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. The organisation is responsible for quality assurance of defence stores produced by ordnance factories, public and private sector units and also procured ex-import. It initiates all actions necessary to ensure that the armed forces get the entire range of arms, ammunition, equipments and stores of the desired quality so as to enhance the combat efficiency and effectiveness of fighting forces.
