After 3-2 series win, India move up to 4th in ICC ODI table

Jaipur, Nov 19 (UNI) The 3-2 series win against Pakistan has pushed India one place up to fourth position in the latest LG ICC ODI Championship table.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side is now just four rating points behind third-placed New Zealand and will swap places with Daniel Vettori's side if South Africa makes a clean-sweep of the three-match ODI series between the two sides starting November 25.

Pakistan, which occupied fourth before the start of the series, has now dropped to sixth place, overtaken not only by India but also by Sri Lanka.

India entered the series with Pakistan in fifth spot in the ladder and trailing its great rival, albeit by a matter of decimal places. However, victories in Guwahati (by five wickets), Kanpur (by 46 runs) and Gwalior (by six wickets) have helped it secure some silverware and fourth place in the Championship table.

Pakistan's victory by 31 runs here, however, prevented it from dropping behind seventh-placed England but even now it remains ahead of Paul Collingwood's side only when the ratings are calculated to three decimal places.

Australia still leads the table, five rating points clear of South Africa.

India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England have no more ODIs to play this year and that means the West Indies could close the gap on them as it is scheduled to play five matches against Zimbabwe this and next month.

The West Indies, currently eighth in the Championship table, is five points behind England and Pakistan and six points back from Sri Lanka.
