Chennai, Nov 18 (UNI) In a major drive in various parts of the city over the last two days, police rounded up 705 anti-social elements, including rowdies, and history-sheeters.
More than 2,600 two-wheeler riders were fined for not wearing helmets, police sources said.
During last night's drive and vehicle inspection, 705 anti-socials, including 22 rowdies, 58 history sheeters and 11 people on whom warrants were pending, were arrested. About 200 two-wheelers riders were held for drunken driving.
On friday night, vehicle checks were made at over 300 locations in the city.
During the raids, police nabbed 738 people under suspicion, including rowdies, history sheeters, those indulging in drunken driving and others on whom arrest warrants had been issued by courts.
More than 2,401 bike riders were held and fined by the traffic cops on that day.
