By Staff

Patiala, Nov 18 (UNI) Punjab crushed underdogs Jammu and Kashmir by an innings and 312 runs on the third and final day of the Inter-State cricket tournament (Under-15) for the Polly Umrigar Trophy.

Punjab, who were 547 for 5 yesterday, declared their innings when play started this morning. Ankit Parsharthi had blazed his way to a double ton (258) yesterday to put the hosts in the driver's seat.

In the second essay, J&K just managed 149 runs to give Punjab a sparkling victory. P Sharma, who scored 51, was the only J&K batsman to offer some resistance to the hostile Punjab bowling attack.

Raja Kamran (29) and Siddharth Gupta (21) were the other batsmen to get into double figures. For Punjab, Arjun Kumar bagged four wickets, giving away 26 runs, while Vinay Chowdhary took 3 for 16.

Gurkirat Singh too bowled well to capture 2 wickets, conceding 56 runs. Punjab earned five points by virtue of this victory.
