Dark Horizon emerges as top East zone of campus rock idol

Shillong, Nov 18 (UNI) Assam rock band 'Dark Horizon' has emerged winner of the qualifying round (East Zone) of Hero Honda Motorola Campus Rock Idol held at Polo ground here yesterday.

'Prophecy' from Aizawl and 'Prisoners of Chaos' from Shillong were adjudged first and second runners-up respectively.

The three bands, selected for their commendable performance at the competition, will vie for a title in the East Zone final scheduled to be held on November 24 at Kolkata.

Other bands that took part in the qualifying round include, 'Ablaze' and 'Dwar' (Shillong),'Cygnus'(Manipur),'Maestro'(Assam) and 'Alien God'(Arunachal Pradesh).

'Dark Horizon', the winner, was awarded cash prize of Rs 75,000, followed by 'Prophecy' Rs 50,000 and 'Prisoners of Chaos' Rs 25,000.

"Campus Rock Idols" is an inter-college music competition was one of the largest rock contests held every year. The competition offers an opportunity to college bands to perform on a professional platform.

After completion of regional events, regional finals will be held in Chandigarh, Bangalore, Kolkata and Pune. The participants will be the first two winning bands from each of the regional events, including metro events.

The winning college band will become the Hero Honda and Pepsi "Campus Rock Idol" and will be decided in the finals to be held in Delhi University grounds on December 2.

Likewise, the winners will get once-in-a-lifetime debut opportunity to perform alongside an international iconic artist who was promoted by DNA Networks.

The runners up will get cash prizes and other opportunities to showcase their talent.
