Patna, Nov 18 (UNI) Union Steel and Fertiliser Minister and LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan today said the tribals were frustrated by "apathetic behaviour" of their leaders RJD chief Lalu Prasad, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP leader Mayawati and have decided to join hands with the Forwards.
Addressing a function organised on the occasion of joining of formr MP Arun Kumar Singh and former minister Nawal Kishore Shahi with the LJP, Mr Paswan alleged that both Mr Prasad and Ms Mayawati ignored the development of dalits when they were in power. Dalits were "frustrated" with the attitude of these leaders and left with no option but join hands with the "upper caste leaders" for their uplift, he added.
Mr Paswan openly supported to accord reservation to the forwards and maintained that the section would have got reservation facilities in the jobs if the V P Singh government had not fallen in 1990.
He said some of the leaders were showing "sympathy" towards the Forwards, however, their "adverse" opinion towards the class was known to every one.
Mr Paswan further allgeed that Bihar plunged into the fire of casteism soon after Mr Prasad came to power in the state in 1990.
The casteism became deep rooted following failures of the state government in holding the panchayat elections, he alleged.
Mr Paswan gave a clean chit to his party MP Surajbhan Singh and dubbed him a special worker and true friend of poor who strived for the cause of the oppressed section.
Addressing the function, Mr Arun Kumar said he had strongly supported Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in all odds and evens, after which the latter "betrayed" him. It was due to this that he abandoned the JD(U).
Former Minister Nawal Kishore Shahi dubbed Mr Kumar and Mr Prasad as ''Ranga-Billa'', saying that the state can never progress in their leadership.
