Vijayawada, Nov 17 (UNI) To exert pressure on the Centre for increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy to Rs 1,000 per quintal, the Telugu Desam Party, a Constitutent of the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA), will organise a 'Rythu Garjana' here on November 24.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Politburo Member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu told newspersons today that UNPA's national leaders like Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav, its General Secretary Amar Singh, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi and Convenor N Chandrababu Naidu, would take part in the 'garjana'.

He said though the paddy farmers in Andhra Pradesh and other states were demanding MSP of Rs 1,000 per quintal, the Centre was adamant on the issue.

The 'Rythu Garjana' stir was decided by the UNPA partners to fight for public and welfare issues, law and order, and the nuclear deal, in the legislature and also outside.

Castigating Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for neglecting the welfare of the farmers, Mr Ramakrishnudu alleged that the Congress government had adopted unfettered attitude towards SCs, STs, BCs and minorities in the state.
