Mumbai, Nov 17 (UNI) State champion Snehadevi Reddy and number 2 Bharathi Bylapudi will be the star attractions at the Vazirani Maharashtra State Ranking Junior Tennis Tournament to be held from November 19 to 23 at the Vazirani National Sports Academy, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.
This Grade 'A' tournament, being held under the auspices of the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association, includes under-12, under-10 and under-8 categories for boys and girls, a media release stated here today.
The under-10 and under-8 categories will have singles, while the under-12 will include singles and doubles.
Seeded No 1 in the girls under-12, Bylapudi earned her top billing after garnering 109 points, while Reddy is seeded second with 100 points, as they are drawn to set the stage for the clash of the titans in the championship round.
Bylapudi, a product of the Vazirani Tennis Academy, has featured in most finals in recent tournaments and has won quite a few, meanwhile 11-year-old Reddy is no pushover as she is expected to come up with a strong challenge.
Just out of the under-10 category, Reddy dominated the circuit to emerge as the top junior before making the transition to the under-12.
In the boys under-12 category are State no 2 and top seed Aditya Vyas and second seed Ryan Serrao, who will be challenged by the formidable third seed Nikhil Passi and no 4 Nikhil Kannan. Passi is the boys under-10 top seed, while Kannan is seeded no 2.
The winners will earn 20 points, while the runners-up will receive 15 points, the release added.
