New
Delhi,
Nov
17:
NDA
convenor
and
Lok
Sabha
member
George
Fernandes
today
charged
Health
Minister
Anbumani
Ramadoss
with
persecuting
AIIMS
doctors
and
urged
Prime
Minister
Manmohan
Singh
to
constitute
an
inquiry
into
it.
Asserting
that
AIIMS
was
to
treat
patients
and
not
for
the
health
ministry
to
play
with,
Mr
Fernandes
said
in
a
letter
written
to
the
Prime
Minister
that
''the
vested
interest''
of
the
minister
is
being
used
to
destroy
the
health
of
the
people
of
the
country.
''For how long will you allow your Health Minister to play with the lives of the patients by persecuting the doctors of this institute? For how long should all these doctors suffer because of their integrity? Ever since coming to office the Health Minister has been making the lives of these doctors of AIIMS so miserable that 90 per cent of them have been on the verge of putting their papers,'' he said.
Mr Fernandes said that in the process patients were the biggest loser amd not the minister.
He urged the Prime Minister to find out the reasons that ''are bothering the Health Minister while doing his duty.'' He also asked the people of the country to persuade the government to ''find a health minister who has no vested interest.''
