Police arrest one person with ''unaccounted money''

Alappuzha, Nov 17 (UNI) Police arrested one person here and seized allegedly unaccounted money amounting to Rs 25 lakh from him in the early hours today.

Police said the man, identified as Muhammad Ali Jinna, 52, from Kollam district of Kerala, was arrested while he was travelling in a tourist bus going to Thiruvananthapuram from Coimbatore.

Police said he was arrested after an anonymous call was received at the Cherthala police station near here that he was ''carrying black money.'' Police intercepted and searched the bus at the by-pass junction here in the early hours today. Jinna surrendered without resisting, police said.

The money, mostly currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 100 denomination, was kept in a big shopper bag. He told the police that he was taking the money to hand over to a person at Kollam.

The accused and the money would be handed over to the Enforcement Department, police said.
