Bhopal, Nov 17: Aimed at raising awareness among all the sections of society about science, the Madhya Pradesh government has initiated a process to formulate a state policy for science.
''Ensuring balance between needs of rural population and forest dwellers and natural resources besides efficient management of available resources are need of the hour. It would be taken care of in the proposed science policy,'' State's Science and Information Technology Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said in a statement here today.
A comprehensive and balanced document would be prepared keeping in view the SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunities and threats) of the state in order to popularise science to make it more meaningful and useful to the common man, the minister said.
''We are a proud society with an enviably rich heritage of science. Our ancestors' outstanding achievements and excellence in architecture, medical science and engineering are still before us.
The policy would seek to ensure a perfect coordination between the past and the present'', Mr Vijayvargiya said.
He said creating proper infrastructure to build a congenial atmosphere for effervescence of science would form the most important component of the science policy.
The government would seek the advice and cooperation of every section of society in formulating the policy, the minister added.
