Manipur retain U-19 girls football title

Margao, Nov 17 (UNI) Manipur retained the under 19 girls' football title in the 53rd National School Games 2007-08, which concluded here today at Fatorda in South Goa.

In the final today, Manipur blanked Assam by 2-0. N Chanchan Chanu and Naobi Chanu scored for the winners while Assam had to be content with second place.

The Fair play trophy was awarded to Chandigarh while V Jaya Chitra and R Kalpana, both from Tamil Nadu were adjudged as the best goalkeeper and highest scorer respectively. Kalpana scored 18 goals in the tournament.

Haryana finished third defeating Chandigarh 5-0 in the third place match.
