Women to be given affirmative share in business by Chamling govt

Gangtok, Nov 16 (UNI) Enhancing the forty per cent seat reservation for women in local bodies, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling went one step ahead today by informing that a policy will be implemented soon to ensure affirmative share to women in all business establishments.

Yesterday, the Central Executive Committee of Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) passed a resolution for giving affirmative share to women in all business, said the Chief Minister who is also the president of the ruling SDF party.

The SDF government had recently given a forty per cent reservation to women in Panchayat and Municipality bodies.

Mr Chamling also said that the state government will be soon giving professional driving licenses to women in Sikkim. Women will be allowed to drive light taxi vehicles, he said.

The Chief Minister also announced that a state commission for protection of Child Rights will be soon set up in Sikkim.
