Jaipur, Nov 16(UNI) Jaipur Discom will spend over 300 crore under the Urban Focus Programme to bring down the leakge of power from 35 per cent to 15 per cent.
Director of Jaipur Discom R G Gupta said that a target of completing Urban Focus Programme on 6670 distribution transformers by March 2008 had been set and 27 executive engineers have been entrusted with the responsibility. He said Jaipur power distribution company will save Rs 200 crore with the 20 per cent decrease in leakage of power.
Mr Gupta further stated that there were 6692 distribution transformers spread over 61 Municipal towns under the Jaipur discom where the Urban Focus Programme is on.
However, he said Jaipur city was excluded from the purview of the programme as Jaipur had already entered the next phase of the power reforms programme. He informed that work costing Rs 150 crore has been taken up seperately in Jaipur which would further reduce the power leakage to 9 per cent.
Mr Gupta stressed that the objective of the Urban Focus Programme was not only to bring down the leakage of power but also to provide adequate and quality power to the urban consumers.
