Two
villagers
were
wounded
when

Improvised
Explosive
Device
(IED)
hidden
in
fields
exploded
in
Doda
district,
while
a
Hizbul
Mujahideen
(HM)
militant
surrendered
weapons
before
security
forces
at
Mahore
in
Reasi
district
of
Jammu
and
Kashmir
in
the
past
24
hours,
official
sources
today
said.
The HM militant, Fareed Ahmed alias Shaheen of Pari Nullah, Seeldhar, in Mahore, who was active in the area for last six years, laid down arms before the officials of 61 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), BSF and police at Chajroo yesterday, sources added.
The militant handed over to security forces one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds, one wireless set, one hand grenade and pencil cells.
Later in the evening, two villagers, namely Bhim Singh and Shankar Singh, were wounded when an IED planted by the suspected militants exploded at Udianpur area of hilly Doda district, sources informed.
Both the injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment while the security forces launched a search operation in the area, they added.
Meanwhile, the RR troops recovered and destroyed two IEDs, planted by the militants at Baransal road, about one km from Gulabgarh last afternoon, sources concluded.
