Santoor challenges Godrej's No.1 claim

Wipro
Limited.
has
obtained
an
injunction
in
the
Hyderabad
court
against
the
misleading
advertisement
released
by
Godrej
for
its
soap
brand
Godrej
No
1.
The advertisement which had disparaging comparisons to “Santoor Soap" was challenged by Wipro Ltd on grounds that the advertisement was unfair, unethical, incorrect and misleading. The Court accepted Wipro"s plea and has passed ad interim injunction orders restraining Godrej from continuing with the disparaging advertisement till further orders.
Santoor is Andhra Pradesh"s largest soap brand and has grown at a blistering pace in this market. Santoor enjoys a sizeable market share exceeding 40% in rural AP and overall 25% market share in the state. It is also ranked as the third largest toilet soap brand in the Country today in value terms.
Commenting on the order, Mr. Anil Chugh, Senior Vice-President, Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, said, “The order is a step in the right direction. It protects our brand against disparaging advertisement."
