New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) The BJP today condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Buddadeb Bhattacharjee's statement, claiming CPM cadre had not done anything "illegal or immoral" in Nandigram and said it has revealed the "real face" of the Communist Party.

Referring to reports of excesses by CPM workers in Nandigram, BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said it was now evident that the party cadre was not only involved in mayhem and massacre in Nandigram but also rape on poor women of all communities, including Muslims.

It was unfortunate that the West Bengal Chief Minister did not see anything wrong in it "morally and legally", Mr Prasad said.

The rapes on women, including Muslim, by the CPM cadre exposed the "real ugly face of secularism of the Left", he added.

The party said while it appreciated the protests by intellectuals and artists of Kolkata over the horrenduous incidents, it was equally amazed at the conspicuous silence of ''NGO Teesta Setalwad and company'' who confine their ire to Gujarat and Maharashtra and do not speak on barbarism in Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal.
