Jaipur, Nov 16 (UNI) Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Sabarmal Jat today advised the farmers in the Indira Gandhi canal area not to sow wheat as the water level in the Pong dam is much below the normal.

The Minister while addressing a press conference here today, appealed to the farmers to opt for crops consuming less water like mustard, johar or chana in place of wheat considering the water crisis.

"The water situation in Pong dam has gone from bad to worse compared to last year. So with an impending water crisis,I advise the farmers to go for less water consuming crops for their own good," the Minister said.

He assured that the state government would review the availability of water in December and February next year and make available maximum quantity of water for their crops.
