Phagwara, Nov 16 (UNI) The Milkmen 7 Dairy Union Punjab today urged the government to make necessary amendments in Food and Aduletration Act to save five crore milkmen working in 1.30 crore dairy units in the country.

The union president Paramjit Singh Sohal told newspersons that the demand to abolish Food Safety and Standard Act 2006, and licence fees imposed on the small traders was made in a state-level convention of the union held here earlier.

Mr Sohal alleged that government was encouraging big industrial units, including multinational companies, for its own selfish interests, while crores of milkmen were living in a miserable condition.

Mr Sohal said the convention also urged the government to make the sampling transparent to end the rampant corruption and harrassment of honest milkmen.
