Gwalior, Nov 16 (UNI) The Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) today returned Rs 15,62,000 to ticket-bearers who could not enter the packed Captain Roop Singh Stadium here during yesterday's Indo-Pak one-dayer.
''The number of such ticket-bearers is about 2,800,'' the match's Organising Committee Secretary Prashant Mehta said.
A long queue of such claimants generated a din.
Excessive distribution of passes had led to chaos at the stadium yesterday. Stone-pelting and road blockade also took place. Police lathicharged and lobbed tear gas canisters to bring the situation under control.
At a press conference this evening, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded a judicial inquiry.
''The GDCA distributed 50,000 tickets and passes for a stadium of about 20,000 capacity,'' alleged BJP District President Abhay Chaudhry.
