New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) India has reiterated its demand to Sri Lanka for extradition of LTTE supremo Prabhakaran and Colombo has informed that they are considering the request.
Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon, in a letter to Janata Party leader Subramaniam Swamy, said the government had made a formal request to Sri Lanka for extradition of the LTTE supremo from time-to-time.
''The government of Sri Lanka is fully aware of our position,'' the letter written to Mr Swamy by Mr Menon on November 13 said.
It said the Sri Lankan government had also informed that ''our request is receiving their consideration.'' Mr Menon wrote the letter in response to a communication sent by Mr Swamy to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee earlier inquiring about the government's policy towards the LTTE.
''There has been no change in the government's policy towards the LTTE which is a banned terrorist organisation,''the Foreign Secretary said in his letter to Mr Swamy.
