Imphal, Nov 16 (UNI) The traffic on national highway was disrupted following a 10-day blockade called by the Senapati District Students' Association that began last midnight.
The inter-state bus services were cancelled in wake of the strike and a large number of vehicles were stranded at the Manipur-Nagaland border, police said.
The organisation called for the strike protesting against the alleged assault of students by India Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel at Senapati district recently.
The NH 39, is the only road that connects the state with the rest of the country and such frequent bandhs had resulted in shortage in supply of petroleum products and other essential items to the state.
The state government had also decided to take actions against all those calling such strikes.
