New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued a showcause notice to Deputy Comissioner MCD (Rohini Zone) G S Matharoo asking him why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for filing a false affidavit in the Court.
A bench comprising Justices A K Sikri and Rekha Sharma issued a showcause notice to Matharoo asking him why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him asked him to file his reply within two weeks.
Court Comissioner of Rohini Zone Rakesh Khanna had told the court that there was a considerable rise in illegal constructions talking place in Rohini Zone and MCD officials were not taking stock of the situation. Mr Matharoo however, disagreed with Mr Khanna's findings and filed an affidavit, follwing which the court ordered a CBI inquiry to probe the allegations against Matharoo.
The CBI placed its findings before the Moniteering Committee appointed by the court. In its report, the CBI states a considerable rise in illegal constructions taking place in the area and also makes a reference to the connivance of officials in it.
