Chandigarh, Nov 16 (UNI) The Gurgaon district administration today gave an ultimatum to the private builders to submit the electrification plan with the power utilities for seeking regular electricity connection in the buildings developed by them within two weeks time.

If they fail to do so an FIR under provisions of Electricity Act will be lodged against them, officials said today.

After receiving complaints from the yesterday in the colonies developed by the private builders, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Gupta today called a meeting of Officers of Town and Country Planning Department and Power Utilities to discuss the matter.

In the complaints, it was alleged that the private builders were providing electricity to the consumers in their area at the rate of Rs 10 to 15 per unit which was very high as compared to the Rs 4.63 per unit rate of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.

Some of the builders had not even applied for seeking regular electricity connection to the Nigam and were supplying electricity generated from the gensets for which they were charging very high rates.

The Deputy Commissioner said that legal action would be initiated against those builders who did not submit the electrification plan within the stipulated time and also against those who have got the electrification plan approved from the Nigam authorities but had done nothing to implement the plan.

According to the terms and conditions of the Town and Country Planning Department, it was the responsibility of the developer to meet out the power demand of the residents living in the area developed by him but majority of developers in Gurgaon had failed to comply with it.
