New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) A vast security umbrella has been thrown around Talkatora Stadium, venue for tomorrow's high-profile AICC session, to be attended by top ranking political leaders, including party President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his cabinet colleagues and chief ministers from 10-odd states.
Personnel drawn from Delhi Police, Special Protection Group and National Security Guards will be dotting almost every corner of the stadium.
A large number of Delhi Police personnel from Parliament Street and Mandir Marg police stations and security wing of the Prime Minister have been stationed in full strength and a round-the-clock vigil is being maintained.
A senior police official attached to the Parliament Street police station told UNI that all senior police of the area were busy giving last minute touches to the security apparatus deployed at the venue, ensuring that security is not breached at any point and for that several rungs of personnel have also enfolded the place.
He said the security of the session, partially being provided by the Delhi Police, would be at an all-time high as Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi, among other dignitaries, would be present on the occasion.
''No chance is being taken and no effort spared as it is a congregation of numerous high-profile Congress leaders under one roof. We are doing our level best to ensure the event passes off without incident,'' he emphasised.
