Andhra Pradesh House adjourned
Hyderabad,
Nov
16:
The
Andhra
Pradesh
Assembly
was
adjourned
for
fifteen
minutes
as
the
opposition
parties
disrupted
the
proceedings,
demanding
discussion
on
'burning
issues'
raised
by
them.
The trouble started as soon as the House assembled for the day, when Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed adjournment motions given notice of by the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on hike in MSP for paddy and the TRS, CPI and CPI(M) on yesterday's lathicharge on Dalits here.
The TRS, CPI and CPI(M) members rushed to the well of the House, demanding discussion on the lathicharge on dalits.
The TDP members were up on their feet, holding a banner criticising the state government for its failure to convince the Centre of hiking MSP for paddy to Rs 1,000 per quintal.
The Speaker urged the TRS, CPI and CPI(M) members to go back to their seats and gave an assurance that the issues, raised by them, would be taken up for discussion after question hour.
As repeated appeals fell on deaf ears the Speaker announced adjournment of the House for fifteen minutes.
Earlier, the Speaker had disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the BJP on prompt payment of salaries to sweepers and attenders, CPI(ML) on compensation for workers of the closed DBR Mills and Janata Party member K Ramulu on construction of houses for beedi workers in his constituency of Metpally.
