Islamabad, Nov 16 (UNI) Pakistan tennis's poster boy Aisam-ul-Haq lived up to the expectations as he overwhelmed Indian National champion Ashutosh Singh as the two leg series between the neighbours ended 1-1.

India had won the first leg of the series in Lahore by 2-1 while Pakistan came back strongly to win the second leg of the series today.

Aisam, who hogged the limelight by reaching the second round of the Wimbeldon this year, outlasted Ashutosh 6-3 6-3 today.

Aisam, undefeated in his two singles matches, having won one at Lahore also, said the series was a good exposure for him.

Yesterday Indian captain Vivek Shokeen had beaten Aqeel Khan in a hard fought encounter 6-7(7-4),6-4,6-3 to put the visitors ahead 1-0.

In the crucial doubles, the Indians, who had beaten the Pakistani pair to clinch the first leg of the series at Lahore, failed to reproduce the same.

Aisam and Aqeel backed by home crowd defeated Shokeen and Ashutosh 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).

Shokeen was gracious in defeat. He hailed Aisam and Aqeel as the best players but added that his country has a clear edge because "we have better tennis structure".
